Bestest of 2021
Personal favourites from this year. As usual there is no attempt at ordering or even keeping to a top 10. As always I have painted a massive variety of stuff and clearly I have left out a lot of the 'run of the mill' Germans in 3 colour camo etc in favour of what might be visually more interesting. Collections of a hundred plus minis are represented by just a couple as in the case of Dark Rituals, Reichbusters and Winter Germans for example. In short a subjective selection

Scarface - no not the Al Pacino one
In a recent commission I was asked to paint not one but Two Tags, Scarface and a Szalamandra. I thought I would take the opportunity to do a walkthrough on how i paint these big boys to show that there is nothing to be frightened of. First step is priming. After washing and assembling i always spray an enamel primer on metal or resin minis, plastics I only use an acrylic primer. Here after the grey enamel primer i airbrushed over a black acrylic primer. As Scar face is largel

Its behind you! - Shasvastii action pack
Masters of concealment and the stab in the back the Shasvastii are probably a bit too complex for me to play with any level of competency but on yhe plus side they are pretty easy to paint. So there's that. Below are the contents of the action pack, or rather the contents of wildfire and beyond which i bought and which morphed into the action pack. What follows will be a very in depth tactical analysis and some philosophy required for playing the Shasvastii. Not! It will be s

O-12 Space Police redux part deux
A new O-12 commission completed. This one being more recent included Starmada and the newer releases such as the Zeta so probably worth popping the pics on. Also customer wanted the nmm look as opposed to the tmm of my previous efforts. By good fortune I had actually built and started painting my own Starmada/action pack just beforehand so was able to get a running start. Having painted Starmada before I was keen to get them sorted in their new NMM especially the Lawkeeper. I

Painting update 7 - Infinity 0-12
Here is a recent Infinity 0-12 commission with the new Starmada stuff plus a few other bits and bobs There is no tactical discussion here as not only have I never played 0-12 but I've not yet played Infinity as only acquired my own figures just before Covid hit... Alpha team with light shotgun - not in Starmada or Wildfire Starmada Kappa guy with HMG - looks a bit like a futuristic biker - just missing the bandana Lawkeeper with multi pistol. Very Dredd especially the shoulde

Painting update 2 - Infinity Pan Oceania update updated
I picked up a number of Pan Oceania Infinity miniatures off ebay just for the fun of painting them as a sort of busman's holiday and have painted them bit by bit. These are now completed and because I am rationalising from 5 armies I've never used down to 2 armies I've never used the Pan O have to go as i dont need 2 armies in blue and I also have O12. Having made my inexperience playing clear don't expect any game insights as this is just a leisurely stroll through my person

Haqqislam Ghulams
Salam Alaikum. Today's effort is all about painting up some of the lovely Haqqislam minis from Red Veil. I have already done the Yu Jing and they are painted up here .... https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/galleries in the Sci Fi gallery - along with the rest of the Infinity stuff I've done. First step was to undercoat and I used a mix of Stynlrez black and brown in the ratio some black: some brown to get a dark brown base as all the colours used were going to be brow
