This is a very picture heavy review of my favourite s from 2025 and I have divided it into sections so you can skip those you have no interest in! This is entirely objective of course and should you wish to see more I would refer you to my website where everything I have painted is in the newest pictures section - Scroll to the bottom past earlier stuff! The 4 Corners campaign - Batrep 5 - The Haunted Houses
Terrain for this battle changed from the usual urban ruinscape as I imagined this area to be on the edge of Emporia or perhaps just outside one of the gates in a marshy less livable area, hence the huts instead of houses. In game terms the marshy areas count as difficult going providing a cover mod for anyone within but not blocking Line of Sight. The patches of woods were the same except the bases of the trees blocked LoS and the template cannot be seen through. The huts had

An Africana/Southlands Old World army
I recently saw a post here speculating on the look of an Africana/Southlands type of army in the Old World and thought I would offer up my own force created from a variety of readily available sources, some old metals but mostly 3d STLs. As there is no GW version to date there can be no copyright issues here and it might be useful for anyone thinking of building such a force'to know where to find them. I am associated in no way with any of them. I have always been keen on an

4 Corners Campaign - Batrep 4 - The Worm Hunt
Following the mayhem of the Museum I thought this game might be a bit less... carnage, and so it was for most of the crews but for one crew it was not. In fact for one crew they left with just the Apprentice and one soldier left standing. The scenario is a standard scenario which for 4 players has 9 treasure tokens scattered around but with each treasure token being picked up the odds increase that a monster worm or snake will appear randomly by any of the treasures and presu

The 4 Corners Campaign - Batrep 3 - The Museum
After the chaos of the Mausoleum I thought this would be a more sedate affair for the 4 warbands but spoiler alert it was the bloodiest game to date with lots of paid man casualties as well as a Wizard and an Apprentice going down. The Statue constructs were absolute killing machines laying waste to all and sundry with consistently high rolls. Fortunately for the warbands there were no creature encounters rolled as they may have finished off some of the warbands! Why this car

The 4 Corners Campaign - Batrep 2 - The Mausoleum
The Mausoleum Deployment saw the Northlands crew once again entering from the North in two groups each built around a Mage. The Wizard Turi headed one group which had an Archer, a Ranger and the Man at arms as well as a thief whilst the Apprentice took the rest. There were 3 probable targets for the Northlands and two possibles if all went well. Spoiler - it did not. On the Eastern board edge the Occidental crew was also split into two groups with again three possible targets

Painting a Burrows and Badgers Routier Bulldog
Some of you will have read the first series of Batreps I made for the BaB Premier League featuring four crews, Pirate Rogues, Highlands Hillfolk, Freebeasts and Royalists. If you haven't, the first in the series can be found here ... https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/single-post/burrows-and-badgers-npl-game-1-royalists-v-hillfolk-tis-the-soldier-s-life-to-have-their-balmy-s and the others follow it. However I also decided that I would do exactly the same but with a

The Four Corners Campaign Intro - Batrep #1 Well of Souls
Welcome to the introductory section of the Four Corners campaign, a 4 warband Frostgrave campaign set on the ruined island of Emporia. The campaign is called the Four Corners Campaign because the four competing warbands are literally from the four corners of the globe. There is an elementalist crew from the far north of north, an oriental summoner crew from the very far east, a Necromantic crew from the Southlands beyond the great desert and an occidental illusionist crew fro

Frostgrave Four Corners Campaign - The Oriental Warband
The Oriental Warband is a Summoner Warband created to hopefully increase in power as the campaign wears on through summoning ever more powerful demons. It does have a useful range of other spells most of which are castable with a bit of empowerment so should be able to act offensively and defensively as an all rounder. The Wizard is Miko a repurposed Malifaux sorceror who is also a magician in my Legions Antiquitata Samurai army! She looks cool from the front with snakey hair

Frostgrave Four Corners campaign - The Occidental warband.
The Occidental (western) warband is an Illusionist warband built around attempting to move or stop the moving of treasure chests. It lacks attacking power from it's magic users which might be a problem but what it lacks in hitting power it makes up for in Haute couture being easily the best dressed of the 4 corners warbands. The starter band has some decent missile power in the archer and tracker but also an apothecary to try and keep the magic users alive as they lack any de
