This is a very picture heavy review of my favourite s from 2025 and I have divided it into sections so you can skip those you have no interest in! This is entirely objective of course and should you wish to see more I would refer you to my website where everything I have painted is in the newest pictures section - Scroll to the bottom past earlier stuff!
Contents
MCP
Warcrow
Frostgrave
Burrows & Badgers
Star Wars Legions
Moonstone
Kimera 75mm
The Old World
40k
A tank!

MCP - Lots of MCP over the course of the year, mostly new releases but some older guys as well. These are my favourites but lots more done and all up here in different lots from Jan 2025 https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/photo-albums

If you would like to see everything I have painted for Mcp since its inception ( and its a lot ) I have galleries here https://johnjohnson-photography.smugmug.com/Miniatures-games
Warcrow - A new thing for this year I have no idea of the lore around this game and have received Warcrow strong throughout the year. These are not as good sculpts as the Infinity stuff but still quite nice.

For pictures of almost everything in the Warcrow range to date look here https://johnjohnson-photography.smugmug.com/Miniatures-games
Frostgrave - Painted up 4 crews for my 'Four corners campaign' which sees the four crews battling on the Island of Emporia a non frosty Frostgrave setting. The first five of the Batreps are here https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/blog-old and pics of all the 4 corners figures as well as tons of other Frostgrave stuff here https://johnjohnson-photography.smugmug.com/Fantasy-miniatures
Occidentals

Orientals

Northlands

Southlands

Burrows and Badgers - I began using my four B&B crews in a series of Six Batreps called 'The Northern Premier League' which started here https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/single-post/burrows-and-badgers-npl-game-1-royalists-v-hillfolk-tis-the-soldier-s-life-to-have-their-balmy-s
back in June. The Original crews were Hillfolk, Freebeasts, Rogues and Royalists but in the upcoming campaign I will be using Undead, Kindred, Royalists and Wildlings, 3 out of the 4 are pictured below. I wont be showing the Wildlings on the B&B facebook page as they are all 3d frogs/toads which I wanted thematically but which Oathsworn did not have enough of. I will pop them on my own FB page though.
As an aside I have literally 95% of the range painted up here https://johnjohnson-photography.smugmug.com/Miniatures-games/Burrows-and-badgers

Hillfolk

Freebeasts

Rogue Pirates

Royalists

Undead

Kindred

Royalists

Star Wars Legions - One of the games that I actually play and have both Empire and CIS armies for. I joined Legion just before the new edition when it was hard to get official stock so while my Empire is 90% official most of my droids beyond the starter set are 3d prints. The collection below is not mine but for a regular customer. Pics of everything I have done this year here https://johnjohnson-photography.smugmug.com/Sci-Fi-Miniatures-games

I did a Blog on painting this here https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/single-post/star-wars-legion-crashed-x-wing-part-1

Painting blog on theses boys here https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/single-post/legion-dewback-fast-as-poss-paint

I also did a blog on painting Legion stuff here https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/single-post/star-wars-legions-painted-at-light-speed-the-dark-side

Moonstone - I have just one customer for Moonstone but luckily he owns literally everything so in my Moonstone galleries I think I have painted everything up to today. Below are my 2025 favourites but if you want to see more they are here https://johnjohnson-photography.smugmug.com/Miniatures-games/Moonstone with newer stuff here after Jan 25 MCP about 30 entries up from the bottom https://www.firstcommissionpainting.co.uk/photo-albums

Kimera/Aradia 75mm - I have been lucky enough to paint a number of high quality Kimera/Aradia miniatures this year and they are really nice. It's a whole different experience to painting.

Warhammer The Old World - not as much Old World has come across the desk this year and the most interesting was probably the AoS Chaos Dwarfs which I would definitely use in TOW. However I have pictures of all the Old World stuff I have done since release here if you are interested https://johnjohnson-photography.smugmug.com/Miniatures-games

Grail Knights

Sir Cecil

Grail Knights

Bretonnian Standard Bearer

Bret Foot Knights

Bret foot Wizard

Bretonnian Merry men

Bretonian stakes

40k universe - 40k was also less common than usual in 2025 possibly because I hardly ever post on the 40k FB pages. What I did paint was cool though with plastic Exarchs from what would be my army of choice as well as some Epic stuff. In my opinion Epic scale is the business for space games as 40k just doesn't feel right. They have super high tech weapons which can probably fire super long ranges but are essentially fighting toe to toe whereas Epic has a better size/range ratio.

For those who are interested there are tons pics of my 40k stuff stretching back to 2017 here https://johnjohnson-photography.smugmug.com/Sci-Fi-Miniatures-games
A Tank - Literally my only WW2 item of the year and this was for me. I have always loved the Matilda in Caunter camo so I 3d printed one for myself! Was very happy with how it turned out.
